Day 7 - Tail of the Dragon

  • Leaving Kentucky, we knew this was going to be a great day. We were sticking mostly to secondary hwy's and cutting SE to run the Famous "Tail of the dragon" and then south. We crossed from Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, Geogia, and into South Carolina, before stopping at Anderson for the night.

It was a very scenic day. We ran down the Kentucky scenic drive, the Tennessee scenic drive, and also the Southern Highroads trail in the Chattahoochee National forest.

Well, the "tail is everything it is hyped to be. We hit it mid day, and it was busy. With 318 curves (mostly switchbacks) in 11 miles there was hardly a straight stretch to be found. It was a blast!

Zeephoto, and Killboy were there taking pictures of everybody playing there. They should be up in a couple of days to see.

I love this area of the country! The roads are great, the scenery is awesome, everything is green, it is warm. It is a great area to live in. There are lakes everywhere!

Anyway, We leave here in the AM and head down towards Savannah and into Florida. Getting closer to Key West! and we are under budget too!
