Made my annual pilgimage to the tax man, and with time to kill I visited a local bike dealership. Inside is a young man drooling over GSXRs and a Yamaha FZ6R. I told him as he sat on one, "Hey man, that bike looks good on you!" He smiled and wanted to know the difference between the FZ6R and the GSXR 600. After telling him about low end torque and power verses high end power and riding positions he says to his mom, "Hey Ma! Which one of these looks best on me?" She replies in her black mama voice, "Boy, get off that and get yerself in the car." She gave me a "I don't know about you" look.
Inside were nice cruisers, a FJR 1300 4 cylinder sport tourer that may be my next purchase, and those all our sport bikes, or crotch rockets as some call them. I'd love to own one of every style. I'm 53 now! Will I ever reach the point when those high tech sport bikes don't leave me all excited, heart speeding up, and wishing I could ride one on a twisty road? I wouldn't want one for my only bike due to comfort and needing a comfy perch for the wife. But then, how old is too old to be daydreaming about one of those on a mountain road? Hearing one of the all out sport 4 cylinder bikes going through the gears still sends chills up and down my spine. I do love the low end torque on the cruiser twins, and sport touring bikes would best fit my current needs. Anybody else still get excited over sport bikes, or watching the AMA Superbike and MotoGP races and you know that your too old to be into that now? lol
