remote oil filters

I totally disliked my stock oil filter's location, stashed under the tranny, hard to get to. I made a bracket and mounted 2 filters one on each side of my coils on the left side of the bike. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Being my bike is black standard filters look good or I can sport Chrome ones

I like the look. But aren't he two filters putting too much restriction on the oil flow and increasing oil pressure.

The filters are in parallel not series so it Decreased the restriction and increase the flow without effecting the pressure. If I would have put them in series it would do just as you said. You have a lot of filter talk about micron filtering to remove trash but what you don't hear is oil filters have a bypass when the filter can't handle the load a relief valve opens and lets unfiltered oil through (any oil is better than no oil). Harleys use THICK oil I use SAE60 3/4 of the year. That puts a strain on those tiny filters. adding the 2nd filter cuts the filtering load and increases efficiency

Me too. I think the black on each side of the chrome looks cool. But the Chrome filters look good to.

    Any complications with air flow?
  • November 27, 2013 6:05 AM PST
I'll find out next summer if air flow is an issue. I'm hoping the extra cooling of oil will compensate. Thanks I thought black looked good but everybody else is "never enough chrome" It's not a show bike it's an everyday rider

I like both but I think black looks better. But I don't like cleaning chrome my self.
