With six months to go before the scheduled, September 24th - AMA Pro Flat Track Racing mile event at the beautiful Canterbury Park near Minneapolis, Minnesota, the staff is still looking for an event title and support sponsors to make the date viable. Canterbury Park is a premier facility in a major market that has needed a jump start since the first and only 1997 AMA GNC mile event at the site. Canterbury Park's President Randy Sampson made that big leap in September 2010, with plans to develop the annual event into the future. Sampson says, "We are currently working on sponsorship sales and other promotional ideas to make the event more financially viable. Hopefully we will be able to line up enough support to give us a chance to have a successful race."

For a state where flat track racing has turned out big crowds and quality pro racers, bringing the AMA Pro Racing Grand National Championship racers to town seems natural for success. I don't know if it is still a secret to the companies that could and should step-up to support this production, or the motorcycle industry doesn't understand the win on Sunday concept. Looking outside the box is maybe the answer, many industries make a profits from motorcycles and the people who enjoy them. Marketing is stepping up and out to see what sticks, and the developing new Flat Track Fan is prime place to gain their support. We all eat and drink, buy insurance, drive cars, cell phones, someone is missing this target audience

AMA Pro Flat Track Racing's new race formula is right for the marketing venue with all the new brands included and the tight fan friendly show. When AMA Pro Flat Track Racing makes it through this tough economy, they will be standing in line to support events like Canterbury Park. Standing on the sidelines with hands in pockets doesn't sell products for anyone. For some forward thinking marketing person, this event will make them a hero.

The 2010 Canterbury Park AMA Pro Racing - Flat Track was welcomed back after thirteen years to a nice crowd and field of AMA Pro Racing competitors. This track was sold to Curtis and Randy Sampson in 1993. Track President Randy Sampson wants to see this event grow and be a regular on the AMA Pro Racing schedule.

The Minneapolis-St.Paul area besides the Minnesota / Wisconsin / North -South Dakota, Iowa and Canada border the state, offering a major market population to support the size and scope for event sponsors. The fans get first class Minnesota nice service at the venue, and from the metro area. If there was ever a win-win, Canterbury Park and the Septmeber 24th AMA Pro Grand National Championship event will show case products to the target audience.

Stepping up to event marketing like this works great, when all the pieces are in place. Last years production was proof that the Canterbury Park staff delivers. Feel free to contact me with your ideas about title or support sponsors. Your rewards will be a first class treatment at the event and to know "you" saved a great venue.
