Shawn Moore is the son of our cabin owners (Steve & Donna) at Copperhead. Shawn lives in Gainesville, GA with his wife Deb and three daughters, ages 3, 8, and 9.

Shawn and his wife Deb have both dedicated their lives to public service. Shawn is an Iraq Veteran who was injured while under a mortar attack and treated at West Point. After returning home Shawn joined local law enforcement and served as an officer and later a narcotics officer. Besides being a busy Mom of three young girls, Deb currently serves as a fire fighter.

In early 2017 Shawn went to the VA complaining of chest pains. He could barely speak, walk, or communicate and was experiencing seizures. The VA treated him with large doses of IV drugs for an infection, but never did a scan of his chest. After being discharged, Shawn experienced a seizure at home and fell and injured his back. Shortly thereafter, Shawn was experiencing shortness of breath and chest pain. After being taken to the Gainesville hospital, he was diagnosed with a large tumor on his heart and will require open heart surgery on March 13, 2017 to remove the tumor and determine if it is cancerous.

The VA missed this tumor - after more than a week in their facility. Because of this, Shawn has been forced into the private sector for treatment and will incur significant medical bills to remove the tumor and treat any further disease.

We are raising money to help Shawn & Deb during this very hard time in their young lives and ease the financial burden they are facing.
