You are welcome to join us for our first overnight adventure of 2024 - this is a 3 day adventure to Death Valley

Day 1: We will meet at North County Indian at 0730 for briefing and paperwork, then leave (KSU) at 0800. Contact me if you live north along the route and want to rendezvous. Our first fuel stop will be in Devore at the Chevron station at 1677 Devore Rd. (91.3 miles). Next stop Baker (122 miles) for fuel and lunch. From Baker we will get off the interstate and onto the 127 and then take the cutoff through Tecopa on the Old Spanish Trail Hwy.
The Old Spanish Trail (the OST) was an auto trail that once spanned the United States with almost 2,750 miles (4,430 km) of roadway from ocean to ocean. It crossed eight states and 67 counties along the southern border of the United States. Work on the auto highway began in 1915 at a meeting held at the Battle House Hotel in Mobile, Alabama; and, by the 1920s, the trail linked St. Augustine, Florida, to San Diego, California, with its center and headquarters in San Antonio, Texas. The work at San Antonio, and indeed nationally, was overseen by an executive committee consisting of prominent San Antonio businessmen which met at the Gunter Hotel weekly. Promoters of the Old Spanish Trail claimed that it followed the route used by "Spanish Conquistadors" 400 years earlier, but there was no continuous trail from Florida to California in Spanish times We will ride the “OST” through the Nopah mountain range and the Nopah Wilderness Area and out of California into Nevada where we will pick up Hwy 160 into Pahrump. This section is 102 miles with no fuel stations so we will all fuel in Baker. We will likely have a chase vehicle with fuel, water, snacks, etc... and able to carry luggage. More on that as we get closer.
The Best Western Pahrump Oasis at 1101 S. Hwy 160 is our hotel. (775) 727-5100. Make your reservation for the night of the 23rd. There are a couple of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel.

Day 2: This day will be a feast for the eyes! We are going to spend all day in Death Valley seeing the best sites to include:
Dante's View Overlook The Devil's Golfcourse Badwater The Artist's Pallete We will roll through Furnace Creek for a gas stop and lunch at the “Last Kind Word Saloon” , then on to Beatty Junction, and Stovepipe Wells on our way to Lone Pine where we will spend the night. Our hotel is the historic Dow Villa Hotel 310 S. Main St., Lone Pine (760) 876-5521. There are several restaurants within walking distance here also.

Day 3: We return home on day 3 via Hwy 395. We will take Hwy 14 to 138, which is 8 mins faster than going straight down the 395, and with the additional benefit of better scenery and getting to go through Reefer City and Lancaster! Wouldn't want to miss that!
Since this is a winter trip, layering your clothing to be ready for temps from warm to cold is encouraged. Packing rain gear is also a good idea regardless of what the forecast is. Typically weather is very nice according to the experts in February in the Death Valley area, but it pays to be prepared. We will have a chase vehicle that can carry extra clothing and gear.

This permit allows all persons traveling with the permit holder in one single private, non-commercial vehicle (car/truck/van) to leave and re-enter the park as many times as they wish during the 7-day period from the date of purchase.
Death Valley Entrance Fee - per motorcycle - $25.00
This permit allows persons traveling on one motorcycle to leave and re-enter the park as many times as they wish during the 7-day period from the date of purchase.
