Bike got hot and will not start
2003 Vulcan 800. Got hot and quit running. Motor is not siezed. No power to the Headlight or Starter. All other lights work fine. Went under the seat looking for fuses and relays, but, to no avail.

Thanks guys. I'm new to the touring bike world. I figured ther tires would be toast after the trip. I'm used to sport bike tires. This bike was given to me by a very close friend who lost his fight with pancreatic cancer in December. Him and I had talked about doing this for a few years. In one of our last conversations he made me promise him that I would still do it so this coming June I'm taking his bike for the ride. I'm going to spread some of his ashes in the places he wanted to see. I'm sure that I will have some more questions before I leave.

I'd start with the battery and checking fuses. Before you spend the money on the battery disconnect it and hook a jump box or cables to the bike and see if that does it. If your battery is more than a couple years old i'd say chances are good that is the issue

Adventuregirl and I went on a nice ride Sunday with Cape Cod Bikers. It started off at the Yarmouth MA P.D. where the group donated over 500 pairs of socks for the troops to Capecodcaresforthetroops.com. The assistant chief lost his Marine son in Afganistan a few years ago. Then the group 76 bikes headed to Provincetown MA .
