Hey Tommy, Welcome tot the site and the world of riding from a former NJ boy myself. Can't help you too much on places to ride in the area, but I can tell you we have a real good list of runs and rallies in our event calendar!
And like Mike (RexTheRoadDog) said, it is a good idea to take a motorcycle safety course if you are new to riding. You may feel you can ride the bike and that is great!! But they will help you practice the things that you hopefully will never have to use and never get a chance to practice.
