I was born in a log cabin that I built with my own two hands!!!
The TV tuner had 11 numbers 2-12, no color and we had 5 channels that we recieved through an antenna connected by a wire that had to be replaced every 3 years to keep all 5. Note 2 were from stations 45 miles away and we needed to turn the antenna 15-18 degrees south to get rid of the "snow".... on 12 inch screen that sat on its own table with a top that turned.
#13 was the kicker for me,i remember those days well..!!!
A bunch of whiny old farts here...ha ha ha said a few of things myself to my kids recently, and they are in their forties...
No damn calculators either
Had to use
Program Encoding Numerical Calculation Interpretive Logger & Permanent Analog Preservation Encoding Record
or sometimes know by its engineering acronym
PENCIL & PAPER

I was the "remote control" in my house! LOL!
How did anyone of us survive to adulthood? Black & White TV, Color was for the adults not us kids. Five whole channels and that was including UHS and VHS. Plus I remember riding to the dump on the tail gate of the station wagon with the trash (try that now). Mosquito control was a fogging truck misting DDT out the back and we would run through the fog. Then AM radio was hot not satellite radio and HD radio. You wanted tunes while riding your bike you strapped it to the bike and hoped to not loss the station as you when down the road.
First job was mowing a yard with a " REEL " mower without a motor. Also tilling the garden with a hoe and rake. progressed to a Big Wheel cultivator without a motor option.

Our boys learned quickly not to complain about being bored. If they did their mom or I found work for them. When our oldest turned 14 we started a lawn care service. For the next 12 years until the youngest graduated they (mom and dad too) did up to 30 home lawns and got the bid for all the school grounds and athletic fields in our little town. They never got any money from mom and dad - all 4 boys are now productive working members of society. A little hard work never hurt anybody.
