Dave Zien, who rode more than a million miles on his 1991 Harley that's now parked in the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame in South Dakota, says Harley-Davidson refused to honor the warranty on his 2014 motorcycle after the clutch failed on a recent trip to Dallas. "All they said was, because I fly flags on the bike, there's no warranty on the powertrain," Zien said Thursday. www.jsonline.com/business/motorcycle-enthusiast-claims-harley-voided-warranty-over-flags-b99275797z1-260267341.html  less

How often do you change your oil?
How often do you change your oil 3,000 miles? Or do you let it go 7,000. On my Road King I will let it go as much as 4,000 with synthetics, but never more than that. On my Road King I will let it go as much as 4,000 with synthetics, but never more than that. On the old Shovel Head I don’t have a tachometer so I just look at the oil to see if I need to change it. But I don’t use synthetics in it. Should I?

I have posted a new Ride Story on my blog.  Please let me know if you like it! Here's a sample: Blood, Breath and Brains Jake ‘Edge’ Walker   Jake was just sopping up the last of his eggs with a piece of toast when a big man swung around the corner of the booth and dropped heavily into seat across the table. Jake eyed him with a practiced glance and saw danger but no immediate threat. He was as wide as Jake was thin, long grey hair and beard was permanently fixed in a 60 mph blow-back. He studied Jake with quick beetle-black eyes while he finished his breakfast. The old biker wore oil-slicked jeans, a battered pair of large engineer boots and his old dirty denim riding vest was covered with pins and run-patches. The patch over his left chest pocket named him ‘Road Man’ but Jake didn’t recall where he had seen him before, so he swallowed the last of his coffee and chewed the grounds while he studied Road Man’s face....    less

Has anyone else heard of this?  I haven't talked to any dealership myself but I was curious to find out if any of you know anything about this. ...    less

Service manual says 5000. With 120,000 miles on the '05 when I traded it in on a '12 it was still running strong and no problems. Of course that's four times a year for me. Couldn't see wasting the money on doing it every 3000 unless it sets a lot and sucks up moisture...

I've got a '12 Electra Glide and wish I knew I could switch back and forth for when I venture above the border into Canada. It's a pain trying to do the math in my head so I know the speed limit and when the next exit, gas stop is. I might have to break down and read the manual...

To JeffHD asking about hurting the engine and trans... I've got a '05 Glide with the same mileage as yours and after at least 25,000 miles pulling a fully loaded trailer and some times riding two up, it hasn't hurt a thing. It hurts gas mileage and back tires if it's not loaded right but it hasn't hurt the bike yet. Still has the original clutch in it to.
