    Old Yamaha Paint Code
I've got an old paint code for a 1971 Yamaha 100 dirt bike - the code is 656K PDF. Paint company can't convert this "Mandarin Orange" code to the new codes.  Any help?

Actually I am the opposite of that. Everyone has always told me I need to be more outgoing. I have never "fit in" completely.  Rode bulls and rode bikes but usually either alone or with a couple of friends. Got along with people , yes, but fit in, no, not really.  I Post on here and it is like I don't exist.  If someone does post on one of my post they take over the post.  I have had a very full life with  all kinds of experiences.  Most I would love to share, some I can't share.  I signed up here to make friends and maybe actually ride with someone for at least awhile.  I guess I am destined to ride alone.  I am ok with that.........  Guess I am  a lone wolf for sure.  less

The plan is to fly from the UK to Denver pick up hire bike and pootle south to Colorado Springs, and then meander roughly NW probable Breckenridge - Yamper valley - Steamboat Springs - Kremmling - Grand Lake - Rocky Mountain / Estes National Parks and NE ending up in Rapid City having booked 4 nights and taking in the Sturgis experience and back to Denver. I know some of these locations may not seemlessly link-up, I'm just a Limey surfing pretty pictures of Colorado on the net, most importantly the question is, is it feasibly to use this method of going where the wind takes me in respect of finding somewhere to lay my head ie Motel or Hotel at the end of each day? I'm not really into camping due to an old snore wound. However, the only must do's are riding over Pike's Peak and The Garden of the Gods looks awesome, but I will bow to the greater judgement from those who have actually lived the dream of one with a long list,...    less

My winter 'Tear-Down' project this year includes replacing the valve cover gaskets. I have gotten all the stuff off of my 1985 FLHTC that needs to come off (gas tank, seat etc) and I have read the HD service manual to familiarize my brain w/the procedure. I am a good wrench and have done a LOT of this type of work, so I'm not afraid of whatever has to be done. Up to and including R&R of the motor. The thing I want to know, do I have to pull the motor to change the valve cover gaskets? All but two of the 8 screws in the valve covers are accessable. Rear cylinder left side are like mebbe 1/2" from the frame. I already have a gasket kit for the primary/valve covers/exhaust/heads/etc... I was gonna just replace the valve cover & primary inner/outer gaskets (she has a wet clutch/primary chain) cause she's flinging more oil than is acceptable. If so, I might as well pull the heads & inspect the bore/pistons while...    less

My ass gets so sore after about 50 km..which is around 38 miles. Late last year i came off a bike at speed. and I seem to have damaged the tail bone section of my back..cause thats what gets sore when i ride long distance. I move around lot to get in a comfortable riding position. My problem is I wanna do Pa to Fl this summer. From there i want to get over to Sturgis again. I've purchased a 1500 vulcan to do this...I am getting the windscreen replaced , and I'm figuring on a back rest...like HD have...for the rider...if thats not an option I'll make something up for a back rest with my travel luggage. The problem will be my legs..the bike has crash bars and hiway pegs, but keeping my legs straight isn't a big problem..sometimes  i like the bend my legs back on the pillion...    less

From : Dirk Diggler Since getting back into riding, and associating with more people who also ride, I've found myself asking this question more and more...  What exactly is the definition of the real biker?   Some will say it's anyone who has the drive and desire to ride, and loves the feeling of the open road.  Others will disagree, claiming that you have to ride for a cause, own a certain brand of bike, dress a certain way, etc. I've met both, and quite frankly, the ones who consider themselves the "real", "hardcore" bikers are most the time the biggest poseurs on the planet.   Allow me to embellish a bit... This past weekend, I decided to attend one of many "ride for a cause" rides, only because I felt a little bit of a connection to the cause involved, and thought I should do my part to at least make an appearance and donate a little...    less

Well, can't ignore that. Bring it on, Guero - tell us about your favorite trip - place to go, whatever. We're listening. I like to ride solo from time to time - last year I found the most back-country roads looping from GA up into SC and back - got stopped for no helmet after crossing a narrow bridge because the local Sheriff was out mowing his lawn and saw me.

Whitehorse Gear sells a book and map set, "Motorcycling Colorado". I got it pre-trip; FANTASTIC!
http://www.whitehorsegear.com/motorcycling-colorado-set /> My number one do not miss - Independence Pass - 13,000 ft. elevation at the Continental Divide. Best ride ever.
Number 2 - The Strater Hotel in Durango, and the steam train from there to Silverton. There are Zip Lines up there!

Well, I had the same situation on an older bike. It could be that there is a wire shorting out intermittently, and those things are usually in the most undiscoverable location on the bike.
A spilit-second short caused by melted insulation, or whatever, will fry that module right now!
Rather than re-wiring the whole bike, you can put an additional 15 amp circuit breaker (use the rectangular tin-can one) directly in line with the feed to the ignition module. That way, when the short hits, the breaker will trip briefly, then you'll continue down the road. You may not even notice that it tripped. Just goes back to work. Thing is, when this method works, and you ride for a few months with no problem, you'll have your diagnosis, and you'll have spent, like, 5 bucks and 30 minutes getting it.
Then you can decide whether to re-wire the bike, or stay happy with it and ride. (That's what I did - never another problem.)
