June 2014 Meet & Greet Near Deals Gap and The Devils Triangl
Hey everyone! I started a topic asking basic questions about an area the Wife and I wanted to ride to (http://www.cyclefish.com/forum/topic/8/index/157910/2#160081) and it seems a lot of folks think the area would be a great spot for a Cycle Fish Meet and Greet. With all that said, I have started this topic to see if we can generate some interest in getting a group together. My wife and I are going to ride up to Maggie Valley N.C. from near New Orleans Louisiana, arriving on June 8th 2014. We plan on spending at least one week in the Maggie Valley area. It really looks to be a great place for a motorcycle vacation.  Here is a decent link about the area if you are not familiar (http://www.visitmaggie.com/videos.htm) and it seems like the Highland Smokehouse http://highlandsrestaurantgroup.net/ could be a good spot for the Meet and Greet and a ride through the mountains afterwards. At this point, nothing is set in stone. I'm open to ideas, and places to have...    less

Dave Zien, who rode more than a million miles on his 1991 Harley that's now parked in the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum and Hall of Fame in South Dakota, says Harley-Davidson refused to honor the warranty on his 2014 motorcycle after the clutch failed on a recent trip to Dallas. "All they said was, because I fly flags on the bike, there's no warranty on the powertrain," Zien said Thursday. www.jsonline.com/business/motorcycle-enthusiast-claims-harley-voided-warranty-over-flags-b99275797z1-260267341.html  less

Once engaged a clutch doesn't slip no matter the "drag" Unless it faulty. the only time drag effects a clutch is starting off. Then the weight and resistance wear a clutch. Once cruising drag effects the motor causing it to run hot and or burn up, it also plays hell on trannys wearing them out, but mot the clutch. Anybody that has sized wheels on a boat knows very well how drag effects an engine. Nor are these types of clutches "safety clutches" designed to slip under drag like a PTO clutch on a tractor bush hog. The HD dealer has no clue how engines work to make an outragous claim as that. Clutches wear out or break because of improper install, adjustment, improper usage, old age, or defective. If the flags were causing that much drag it would not have been starting or getting to cruising speed so they would have wore the tranny or burned up the motor but not the clutch

Hmm, harley just posted all kinds of pics from thier big aniv party. Most of the folks attending were flying flags from thier countries and states. I wonder if they all know they have voided thier warranty? Or if Harley has become the same hypocritical a$$holes as Obama?

Well, the fluids are changed, the test run to check for leaks is done. I will pack my bags this week. all that remains is to get my big a$$ed self loaded up on the bike next weekend and make some miles! LOL.

For reasons I will not go into here, I am really looking forward to this run. Meeting new freinds and some old who are coming down from Mo. Riding in the mountains, exploring new, and old areas. Visiting with freinds who still live there and seing everything again. To ride one more time in that sweet blue haze.....Good times ahead.

Time and life are funny, and never fail to shock ya do they? Some days good, some........not so much.

This Meet and greet is gonna be one of my best weeks....EVER!!!!

    See Ya'll soon!

    Dave.
